Well, I'm just home from a wonderful long weekend with Rod at the Cloud 9 Retreat in southeastern Oklahoma. We both needed the change of scenery...the rest and relaxation....the peace and quiet. It was downright medicinal for me. Perhaps even more importantly, we needed some extended time together! I'm very happy to report that we totally enjoyed that togetherness...that proximity...and it only made us want more. :) (Of course, there's that dualistic craving mind...since we're human, we're never going to be free of it completely...)
We stayed at this beautiful cabin -- the Moonshadow Cabin -- one of only three on the property. It is quite new and strikes a nice balance between rusticity and elegance. We brought the food and wine and a few key implements and everything else was there for us.
One of my favorite things was the HOT TUB! We spent some immensely relaxing quality time in it.
We did some wading in the river...it was too low for canoeing, unfortunately. Now here's something very unusual -- we spent almost two hours HANGING OVER the river! Rod brought a wonderful surprise - a very high-tech hammock -- it was made of parachute fabric! Wow, what a beautiful experience that was.
A big thunderstorm moved in Saturday night. We had a spectacular light show along with the majestic sounds of the thunder rolling down the mountains. We sat out on the back porch and just enjoyed the show. The rain was steady and musical and soporific. It continued all night and all day Sunday. Rod cooked some yummy blueberry pancakes and we had a leisurely breakfast. We read...I played in my art journal...Rod meditated...we talked and just enjoyed being together. Later, Rod cooked a vegetarian Mongolian barbeque (with whole wheat pasta) for supper and it was fantastic.

This is a photo from the ENO website (the people who make this awesome hammock). Of course, I'm sure we looked just as cool as this couple! ;)
We were not nearly so elevated, though. We could dip our feet in the river...which was perfect! Bliss.
